What's going on during the Brixham Heritage Festival!
Please note that this timetable may be subject to change during the weeks leading up to the festival.

Saturday, 28th May.
11.30am
The PARADE, led around Fore Street by Gunner Edgar Lawrence, marshalled by courtesy of Brixham Rotary. Everyone welcome to join in. Meet on The Old Fish Market.
12.00pm
Pennywell Farm comes to Brixham - bring your children to see and enjoy the magic of the animals on the Quay.
12.00pm
Cosmo the Magician is around the Town all day in his Balloon car - guess the number of balloons - pick up your entry form from Hobb Nobs on the Quay. Prize for the winner, which will be announced at the Punch and Judy Show on Wednesday at 3pm.
12.00pm
Lez the Fez, our popular Clown, creating balloon sculptures throughout the day.
12.00pm
Pride of Brixham Majorettes display team.
12.20pm
Brixham's very own Samba Band entertains.

The Brixham Sailing Trawler Rally and Race in the bay. Watch these graceful ships from the Breakwater.

The Paignton Sapphires Majorettes Team display in Fore Street.

The John Shillito Select Six with music to fire you up ready for the first Fireworks Display of the week. Sponsoered by Harbourway Dental Services and IAW Accounting Services.

BBQ on the Terrace, weather permitting, then join Pam in the Piano Bar from 9pm.

Join us aboard The English Riviera WW2 Heritage Ship Fairmile for a wonderful Evening Cruise around Torbay to Brixham to watch the Heritage Week Firework Display. Great fun for all the family on a vessel of true English Heritage. Sponsored by Greenway Gerrt. Please book on 01803 882881.

GRAND FIREWORK DISPLAY designed by Skyburst Illuminations and choreographed to Rock and Pop. Mr. Bill Stockman, of Brixham Artists for over 40 years, will do the countdown so please join in and don't forget to put some money in the cans! Sponsored by the Quayside Hotel, The Berry Head Hotel, Brixham Yacht Club and the Heritage Festival.

Sunday, 29th May.
11.00am
What a treat this year from the Torbay Owls & Company. Joining the Eagle, Barn and Tawny Owls and Harris Hawk will be a baby Spectacled Owl, a baby African Spotted Eagle Owl an a baby Raven. Don't miss this - hold them and be photographed in the lovely setting of the Front Lawn at the Berry Head Hotel.
12.00pm - 2.30pm

Lunch from the Carvery, Brasserie food and drinks on the Terrace at The Berry Head Hotel. Relax and listen to some live Jazz.

2.00pm

The South Devon Players present a play - The Barbary Pirates - a production based on the tales of the raids along the Devon Coast by the Barbary Pirates.

3.00pm

The newly formed local Brixham Choir "Perform Sings" entertain you with a variety of songs.

4.30pm
The Green Willow Clog Dancers display energetically.
7.30pm
The Original Brixham Ghost Walk starts from the William of Orange Statue, priced at £5 Cadavers, £4 Coffin Dodgers, £3 Boils and Ghouls, under 5's free. Allow two hours of your life.
8.00pm

Brixham's Festival of the Sea for the Royal Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen, with John Anderson. A Blessing and celebration of our Brixham Fleet with Brixham Town Band, the Riviera Singers supported by the Brixham Orpheus Male Voice Choir.

9.00pm

The Quayside Hotel presents Live Music in the Ernie Lister Bar with Southern Comfort.


Monday, 30th May.

Brixham Heritage Museum throughout the week will host FREE drop-in painting activities, Name the Bear competition (up to 16 years). Children should be accompanied by an adult paying normal admission price. Other events listed daily. Contact Dr. Philip Armitage or Louise Cresswell on 01803 856267.

Cr8tive Dance Theatre entertain with varied dance styles from ballet to jazz, featuring dancers aged 2 to adult.

4.00pm

The Smooth Operators, a Swing Jazz Trio playing music from Gershwin to Ellington, Porter to Brubeck which we know you will enjoy. Sponsored by Shores Restaurant and Brixham Trawler Agents.

7.00pm

BBQ featuring local fish and meats on the Terrace at the Berry Head Hotel, followed by Live Entertainment in the Bar with Eddie Bence from 8.30pm.

7.30pm

We are delighted to welcome the Torbay Gospel Singers who encompass a variety of styles from upbeat jazz to melodic blues and unaccompanied traditional African / Afro American songs. There are 30 members singing in 3 part harmony backed by professional musicians - the perfect sound for a summer evening.


Tuesday, 31st May.
11.00am

The Strand Art Gallery welcome children into the Gallery for the chance to draw their own picture and win prizes. Paper and crayons are supplied and you might just get your picture put up on the wall.

10.00pm - 3.00pm

Artist Impression - bring your paints and equipment. Paint the Bay from the grounds of the Berry Head Hotel (weather permitting). Donations to the Heritage Fund. Prize for the best picture.

2.00pm

Jumping Out, a first-time visit from a band playing some classic swing and trad; with a little blues and boogie for good measure. Sponsoered by the Co-Operative Group.

7.30pm

The Skiffle Group - another first for the Festival and this group predict "Mayhem and Madness from such nice chaps" with music from the 50's performed with gusto. We look forward to it.


Wednesday, 1st June.

Brixham Heritage Museum. Morning - Flint tool making workshop for younf people aged 8-16 years. (FREE but pre-booking essential). Afternoon - Similar workshops for grownups for a small change of £3 per person, (pre-booking essential).

44Gun - an old time American Appalachian Mountain String Band with fiddle, guitar and banjo. Great fun with Hill Billy Music.

Shuffle the Deck, Appalachian cloggers, join old time musicians, 44Gun to give a lively performance of music and dance. The dancers have a reportoire of 14 dances and use over 50 of the original steps from the USA. Not to be missed!

The Sea Anglers Club Fishing Competition on the Breakwater Hard. Prizes to be won.

Chefs Live Cooking Demo and at 8.45pm Charity Quiz in the Bar at the Berry Head Hotel in aid of Heritage Funds. Enjoy paella, sangria, moules, frits and local cider before your quiz.

Fishy Tales! at Brixham Library. Stories, crafts and bag printing - join us for a morning of sea-themed crafts. Booking essential. Please telephone 01803 853870 to book your place. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

11.00am - 4.00pm

Pirate Themed Family Fun including puppet show, music, sword dance, pirate tales, Lez the Fez with balloon sculpture and much more - something for everyone.

Brixham Heritage Museum. Join the Field Research Team searching for prehistoric flints and other archaeological finds on Berry Head. Open to families. Donations appreciated. Contact museum for detail on 01803 856267.

Our popular Crab Catching Competition for 6-12 year olds - just bring a bucket, line and bair and win some prizes. Takes place between Kings Quay and the events pontoon. Sponsored by Eric Lloyd & Co. Churston.

All day BBQ on the Terrace featuring Brixham fish and local meats at The Berry Head Hotel, with Pam in the Piano Bar from 9pm.

1.30pm

A dancing display from the Riviera Twirlstars Majorettes Team.

4.00pm

The Teign Valley Jazzmen play mainstream and trad music. Sponsored by Shipmates.

7.30pm

The Totnes Jazz Workshop with a range of music including Blues, Jazz Standards, Funk, African and Raggae. Their philosophy is for people to enjoy music, and they have a good balance between the rhythm section and the front line instruments. Come on down!

8.00pm
