What's going on during the Brixham Heritage Festival!
Please note that this timetable may be subject to change during the weeks leading up to the festival.

Saturday, May 23rd
11.15am

We invite the Chairman of Brixham Town Council to open the PARADE, which will be led round the Town by Gunner Edgar Lawrance, marshalled courtesy of Brixham Rotary. EVERYONE welcome to join in. We gather on The Old Fish Market.

11.30am

Street Heat Samba Band lead the Parade with the Torbay Sea Cadets Marching Band, Clowns, Juggling Unicyclist, The Plymouth Morris Men, Brixham Sea Rangers, Ace Taxis, B.O.A.D.S., The Ghost Walkers. Come and join in fancy dress, music and much more.

12.00pm

Street Heat, the famous energy rhythm group entertain.

12.00pm

The Amazing Wayne, yes, he will amaze you with his unicycle tricks in Fore Street.

The Brixham Heritage Sailing Trawler Race and Rally in the Bay. Five classes entered and best view from the Breakwater.

The Plymouth Morris Men visit Brixham for the first time.
1.15pm
Amazing Wayne Unicyclist. If you missed him earlier don't miss him now!
1.30pm
The Plymouth Morris Men dance again, this time in Fore Street, giving everyone a chance to see them.
2.00pm
Jason Abrahams sings Jazz by Micks Captains Capin on the King's Quay.
3.00pm - 4.30pm

Route 66, our regular Duo.

5.00pm

Battery Powered - a 4 piece band from Brixham playing mostly original work -apparently they're awesome. A first visit to the Festival so please come and welcome them.

7.30pm
The John Shillito Select Six get you in the mood for the first Firework Display of the week. Sponsored by Harbourway Dental Servies and IAW Accountancy Services.
7.00pm - 9.30pm

BBQ on the Terrace at The Berry Head Hotel, weather permitting. Pam on the piano from 9pm.

9.50pm

GRAND FIREWORKS DISPLAY by Skyburst Illuminations over the Harbour set to classical music and featuring Handel's Royal Fireworks Music. Please welcome Marshall Ritchie, Palm Radio presenter, and join him in the Countdown to the first Firework Display of the Festival. Fireworks sponsored by Quayside Hotel, The Berry Head Hotel, Brixham Yacht Club and the Heritage Festival.

 
Sunday, May 24th
11.00am

Torbay Owls and Company featuring Eagle, Barn and Tawny Owls. Hold them and be photographed. On the front lawn at the Berry Head Hotel.

12.00pm - 2.30pm

The Berry Head Hotel. Lunch from the Carvery, Brasserie Food and drinks on the Terrace. Relax and listen to some live Jazz.

2.30pm - 4pm

Our Festival regulars Mr P. Body’s Rock and Roll Train with music you remember. Sponsored by Plymouth and South West Co-Operative Society.

5pm - 7pm The 16 piece Déjà vu Band with a new sound for the Festival.
8.00pm Brixham’s Festival of the Sea for the Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen. A Blessing and celebration of the Brixham Fleet with the Town Band, the Riviera Singers and the Brixham Orpheus Male Voice Choir.
8.45pm Charity Quiz in the bar at The Berry Head Hotel in aid of Heritage Funds Enjoy paella, sangria, Moules, frites and local cider before your quiz.
9.00pm The Quayside Hotel. Live Music in the Ernie Lister Bar with Southern Comfort.
 
Monday, May 25th
Brixham Heritage Museum from Monday to Friday present an Art Competition entitled "The Big Fish". Free child entry and the three age groups are 1-4, 5-8 and 9-12. Museum contact number 01803 856267.

Concerts by The Great Glosjazz Big Band - the grown up Gloucester Youth Jazz Orchestra. We welcome them every year so come down and support them as usual.

Tuesday, May 26th
Joint event between Brixham Library and Brixham Museum called "In Fisherman's Boots". For children aged 8-12. An all day event : 9.30am to 12.00pm at the Museum and 1.00pm - 3.30pm at the Library. A free event but pre-booking is essential (01803 853870). Children need to bring their own lunch on the day. In the morning children will be filmed interviewing old fishermen of Brixham, acting, drawing and reading poetry around the theme of the great gale of 1866. The afternoon session will be editing the DVD with titles by the children etc. Soon after the day children will have a DVD of the event to keep.
2.30pm - 3.30pm

The Strand Art Gallery present Mr Bill Stockman, the long standing Brixham Artist demonstrating his painting. Children can then draw their own pictures and win prizes - future artists may be discovered! Paper and crayons supplied.

3.00pm Crab Catching Competition for 6-12 year olds - just bring a line, bucket and bait and win some prizes. Takes place between King's Quay and the Events Pontoon. Sponsored by Eric Lloyd & Co, Churston.
4.00pm - 6.00pm

The Tone Valley Jazzmen return with their own style of music.

7.30pm The Original Ghost Walk starts from the William of Orange Statue. Allow 2 hours of your life. Adults £5, OAPs £3, Children £2. Babies and dogs go free.
7.30pm

The Cool play Blue Note with Groove Jazz.

8.00pm Our Favourites Heather and Gorse and the Grimspound Border Morris are here again with their fun and raunchy dancing. Don’t miss this.

Thursday, May 28th - Pirates day!
10.00am - 4.00pm

PIRATE'S DAY! At the Old Fish Market. Family Fun including games, competitions, workshops and much more. Notice Board on the Quay for times.

Brixham Museum. Free Craft Workshop. Join the half-term fun. Ages 8-12yrs. Come prepared to get messy. Limited places so please book at the museum on 01803 856267.

Classic Vehicle Rally by the Breakwater. Sponsored by Eric Lloyd & Co Churston.

7.00pm - 9.30pm

Enjoy a Fish and Chips Night at the Berry Head Hotel. Choose from a wide selection of Brixham-landed fish.

Friday, May 29th
10.00am

Throughout the day the Royal National Lifeboat Charity invite you to check out the goods on their stalls and our Clown Lez the Fez will be around to keep the children (and grown-ups) amused.

11.00am-12.00pm

Brixham Library present a Children's Author Event. Karl Gale will be reading from his popular series "The Little Fishing Boats of Brixham". Children will also be able to take part in colouring masks of the boats. Squash and biscuits will be provided. The event is free and aimed at 7-11 year olds. Must be pre-booked. Please contact the library on 01803 853870.

3.00pm

The Really Wild Show at Scala Hall. Join the queue of all ages to see creatures small and wild, as seen on T.V.

3.00pm The St. Mary's Hinckley Church Lads and Girls Brigade Band march through the Town.
4.00pm The Brigade Band continue with a Concert at The Old Fish Market.
7.00pm - 9.30pm

The Berry Head Hotel BBQ on the terrace with Southern Comfort Duo live in the bar at 9.30p.m onwards.

The Mainstreamers make music featuring 3 guest artists. Sponsored by Shipmates.

 
Saturday, May 30th

The Paignton Sapphires. Talented Majorettes one of our regular favourites.

2.30pm - 3.15pm

The Temple Gym Black Belt Academy present a Kung Fu display Team and Lion Dance

4.00pm - 6.00pm

Funk 54 featuring musicians from Left Right and Centre, Phoenix and Freeway.

12.00pm - 9.30pm

ALL DAY BBQ on the terrace at The Berry Head Hotel, followed by Pam in the Piano Bar from 9.00pm.

7.30pm Banjorama. A welcome return of the fun band. Sponsored by Brixham Trawler Agents.
9.50pm

The Festival’s final FIREWORK SPECTACULAR over the Harbour. Fireworks sponsored by Quayside Hotel, the Berry Head Hotel, Brixham Yacht Club and the Heritage Festival.
